In short: we collect nothing about you ourselves. Our applications have no accounts, no sign-in and no analytics, and everything they save stays on your device. Spadaddled shows adverts supplied by Google AdMob, and Google collects data through those adverts — you are asked before any personalised advertising happens, and you can change that answer at any time in the game's settings.

Who we are

Retenda Intelligence Limited, a private limited company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for any personal data described here. To contact us about this policy, or to exercise any of the rights below, write to us at 18 Sandbeds Road, Halifax, England, HX2 0JF.

Our mobile applications

Our published mobile applications, including Spadaddled, contain:

Game progress, high scores and settings are written to your device's private application storage. They are never sent anywhere, they are visible only to the application, and they are removed when you uninstall it. In Spadaddled, Reset progress in the game's settings immediately erases the scores, the collection and any saved run; your settings are left as they are. Uninstalling removes everything.

Advertising in Spadaddled

Spadaddled is free and is paid for by advertising. Adverts are supplied by Google AdMob, part of Google Ireland Limited. There are two kinds: a short advert shown occasionally after a run ends, and an advert you may choose to watch in exchange for an extra life. Nothing is shown during play.

To fill an advert, Google receives information from your device. Google decides for itself what it does with that information, which makes it an independent data controller for it, not a processor acting for us. It typically includes:

What Google does with it is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in the Google Privacy Policy. We receive none of it. We see only aggregate earnings figures, which identify nobody.

Your choice. Where the law requires consent — the UK, the EEA and Switzerland — the game asks before any personalised advertising happens, through Google's certified consent form. Declining does not remove the adverts; it means they are chosen without using your data to profile you. That consent is the legal basis for personalised advertising; our legitimate interest in funding a free game is the basis for the non-personalised kind.

You can change your answer whenever you like: Settings → Ad privacy choices in the game reopens the same form. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Android settings, which applies to every app on the phone.

Permissions

Spadaddled requests three Android permissions, all granted at installation with no prompt: VIBRATE, so taps and wrong answers can be felt; INTERNET, used only to fetch adverts; and AD_ID, which lets the advertising described above use your device's advertising identifier. Turning vibration off in the game's settings stops the first being used at all. The game requests no other permission, and asks for no access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, files or accounts.

Children

Spadaddled is rated for ages 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process personal data relating to anyone under 13, and the game asks for no information that would reveal a user's age. Advertising is configured accordingly.

This website

This site is a small set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party scripts or fonts. Our hosting provider processes standard server request information, such as IP address and browser type, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse; this is a legitimate interest under UK GDPR and is not used to build any profile of you.

If you write to us, we hold that correspondence for as long as needed to deal with it.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Our only advertising partner is Google, as described above, and we have no analytics partners at all. We hold no personal data of our own that we could share.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability in respect of personal data we hold about you. We hold none through our applications, so in practice these rights will apply only to correspondence. Write to us and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

For the data Google collects through advertising, Google is the controller and holds the ability to act on those rights. Use the Google Privacy Policy and its controls, and withdraw consent in the game at any time via Settings → Ad privacy choices.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
